Synopsis

Sara (9) suddenly gets a foster brother, Steinar (5), and her life is turned upside down. Now she has to share both her parents and her room with him, something she handles poorly. Steinar is annoying, and in her eyes, he gets special treatment. Sara is angry, sad, and can’t be a good big sister.

To cope with the painful feelings, she creates the alter ego Alfred – a kind big brother. At home, she is Alfred, while she is still Sara at school. But gradually, Sara disappears completely. The parents realize they need to take action, and the struggle to get Sara back begins. They move Emilie to the basement so Sara can have her room back. Steinar settles into the family, and Sara helps him learn letters. In the end, she accepts her role as a big sister, and a drawing from Steinar hangs on the door. Misspelled but clear it says: Sara.
